Jyung Mee Park
Jyung Mee Park was born in Korea and received her MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. In 1999, she had her first major solo exhibition at the Corcoran Gallery of Art.
For a Special Projects Exhibition at P.S. 1 MoMA in Spring 2000, Jyung Mee Park created a large installation on site by folding and layering 10,000 sheets of rice paper, one by one into a larger form without any adhesives. Her sculptures are elegant and almost translucent, with references to thatched roofs and Buddhist lanterns.
