"As part of its support for collaborations at the intersection of art and science, the Simons Foundation is welcoming applications from trios of artists, scientists and arts organizers who will explore the theme of “turbulence” as participants in the foundation’s next Open Interval program. Turbulence causes both awe and complexity, and applicants are invited to present how they will integrate the concept into their collective inquiry. Open Interval is an exploratory initiative that comes with funding, programming as part of a national cohort and, most importantly, unprescribed time for participants to engage in unbound collaboration."

What does it look like when an artist and a scientist spend meaningful time thinking together in open-ended exploration? That is the question at the heart of Open Interval, a Simons Foundation program that supports trios of artists, scientists and arts organizations to come together around a shared scientific theme and spend several months following their curiosity. The program’s next theme will be “turbulence,” a phenomenon that sits on the edge of chaos and beauty.

Union Hall Art Space is now accepting proposals for the 2027 cycle of Rough Gems, a celebrated curatorial incubator designed to uplift emerging voices in Denver’s art scene. From September 8 through October 27, 2026, artists, cultural producers, and aspiring curators are invited to submit proposals for original exhibitions that push boundaries, spark conversation, and reflect the vibrancy of the Denver Metropolitan community. Program provides financial support, professional curatorial mentorship, and access to valuable resources.

The 2027 Michigan Central Art x Newlab Creative Residency supports artists, creatives, and designers working at the intersection of art, technology, health, and society. Fellows will receive a $30,000 unrestricted award and participate in a 12-week residency in Detroit through one of two fellowship tracks: Art & Tech or Art & Health. Fellows will have access to Newlab’s 18,000 square foot fabrication facilities, project-aligned research opportunities, mentorship, and cross-sector networks.

The open call welcomes artists worldwide working in theatre, playwriting, dramaturgy, acting, directing, movement, film, and related interdisciplinary practices. Residencies last two or four weeks. At Casa Hechale, residents live and work within an active cultural center, with access to rehearsal and working spaces, individual conversations with our creative team and advisers, and opportunities to encounter artists in Mexico City. A finished work or public presentation is not required. Selected artists pay a programme fee.

The Artist in Residence (AIR) program offers professional artists in the Austin area an inspiring natural setting in which to explore different mediums and further their artistic development.

The Alaska State Parks Artist-In-Residence program provides an exceptional way for artists to spend up to five days in a State Parks cabin exploring the scenic beauty and recreational resources of Alaska's state park system.

Located only minutes from BIMA, Daisy Lane will be centered on a large, newly renovated, light-filled space where artists can create and explore in a focused environment while BIMA’s community can interact with the artists during the creation of new work.

2027 ArtFields Competition & Festival is one of the Southeast's largest and most prestigious art events, held each spring in Lake City, South Carolina. Artists working in any visual art medium are invited to submit one work for consideration. Selected artists will exhibit alongside hundreds of peers in galleries, warehouses, restaurants, shops, and other venues throughout downtown, competing for over $100,000 in cash prizes. Eligible artists must be 18 or older and have resided in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, or West Virginia for at least six months.

The Artist in Residence Program at Tao House provides a working retreat for developing or established playwrights, scholars, artists, or critics of the performing arts.

The Institute for Public Architecture welcomes applications for the 2027 Independent Project Residency – the only overnight arts program on Governors Island in New York City. Through a creative live-in residency framework situated in public space, the program invites practitioners across disciplines—whose work focuses on the public realm—to live and work during an 11-week period at the Block House, and encourages Fellows to collaborate across the island. Since 2021, the program has hosted a diverse cohort of architects, artists, technologists, farmers, and more.

VIA’s Artistic Production Grants fund the production of newly commissioned works of visual art exhibited beyond museum walls, in the public realm, or in non-traditional exhibition environments. These grants are awarded to projects that best exemplify VIA’s three core values of Artistic Production, Thought Leadership, and Public Engagement. Grant amounts range from $25,000 to $100,000.

The Hopper Prize was established to provide grants, visibility, and career enhancing validation to artists who demonstrate a serious commitment to their work.

SoMad is moving into a new building in 2027, and instead of filling our bathrooms with basic fixtures, fluorescent lighting and forgettable tile, we're inviting artists to transform each one into something entirely their own — a permanent, site-specific environment that will inspire occupants for decades to come.

SU-CASA is a community arts engagement program that places artists and organizations for collaborative residencies at senior centers across the five boroughs of New York City. Individual artists may apply to SU-CASA for placements at participating senior centers through their local arts council; organizations must apply for a SU-CASA designation directly through the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs.

The 2027 Manhattan Arts Grants application guidelines and application forms for LMCC’s annual grant programs are now available. We invite Manhattan-based individual artists, collectives, and non-profit organizations working across all artistic disciplines, backgrounds and neighborhoods to apply for project support to bring their 2027 projects to life.

The Artist’s Book Grant is an eight- to ten-week residency for artists to produce a limited edition book work. Working intensively in our studios, artists print and bind their own books, and are encouraged to create an edition size no larger than 100 and no smaller than 50. The grant includes a stipend of $350/week, up to $1000 for materials, up to $250 for travel within the Continental US, free onsite housing, and 24/7 studio access.

The Individual Artist Fellowship program recognizes artists in Nebraska. Fellowship recipients are chosen by a professional panel according to the merit of their work. Funds must be used for professional development, which can include the creation of new art, presentations, training, and/or research.

The program brings together a small international cohort of actors and performing artists for more than 30 hours of workshops, movement and embodied practice, ensemble training, improvisation, text work, play and artistic experimentation. The week is rooted in cross-border artistic exchange between Mexico and the United States. Alongside the studio practice, participants share accommodation, selected meals, group outings, theatre visits and cultural activities across Mexico City.

Chulitna Lodge Wilderness Retreat seeks to provide the time, space, clarity, and facilities for all forms of creative professionals or researchers to make and meditate. From visual artists, to writers, to scientific researchers, music, dance, and more, we encourage the gamut from seasoned professionals to enthusiastic hobbyists, to apply for our various programs.

The EFA Studio Program provides professional visual artists with subsidized studio space, curatorial opportunities, and a supportive community in Midtown Manhattan. Artists are selected by a panel of art professionals based on an anonymous review process. There is no application fee, and we welcome artists living within commuting distance of Manhattan.

Established in 1980, this internationally renowned program has awarded visual artists of all media the opportunity to live and create works inspired by Bernheim’s wondrous natural environment. The work created through this program connects visitors to new and exciting experiences that spark curiosity and ignite wonder while expressing the artistic side of Bernheim.

Since 2025, The Abbey Foundation has been offering six month residencies to artists for day use of the 850 square foot studio space. There is also another 850 square foot screened in area attached to the indoor studio which is available for large scale works. The studio may be a shared space with one other artist during some periods.
