Asian Cultural Council — Fellowships and Grants

ACC grants provide long-term, immersive exploration of other cultures. ACC has four distinct grant types: New York Fellowship, Individual Fellowship, Graduate Fellowship , and Organization Grant.


Mesa Refuge Residency
Point Reyes, California
Deadline: December 1, 2023

This residency supports writers, activists, and artists whose ideas are “on the edge,” taking on the pressing issues of our time. It offers writers a room in a home above a wetland in Point Reyes, California. Application fee: $50.


Arts Southeast On::View Artist Residency Program
Savannah, GA
Deadline: December 1, 2023

Located in the heart of Savannah’s Starland District, this residency provides a free, high visibility studio space for an artist to complete a new project, to continue an in-progress endeavor, or to conduct research exploring conceptual, material, performative, and social practices.


Alchemy Art Center 2024 Artist Residency Program
San Juan Island
Deadline: December 1, 2023

Alchemy’s AIR program is a unique opportunity to live in an immersive arts community on San Juan Island, connect with the wider SJI community via teaching and outreach activities, and have focused time to create art in an environment that supports collaboration, cross-pollination, and innovation. Programs include a Teaching Artist Residency, Artists in Community Artist Residency, and a Special Projects Artist Residency.


The Puffin Foundation  2024 Annual Artist Grant Program
Deadline: December 2, 2023

This grant supports projects in fine arts, photography, music, and environmental artistic activism that educates the public on topical issues. Average grants are approximately $1,250.


Atlantic Center for the Arts Residency #193
New Smyrna Beach, Florida

Deadline: December 3, 2023

This three-week program brings together three Mentoring Artists from different disciplines to provide artists with meaningful interaction and discussions. Private accommodations are provided for each artist. To apply, click one of the three offered mentors’ names.


Foundation House Artist Residency Program
Greenwich, Connecticut
Deadline: December 3, 2023

Foundation House, located in back country Greenwich, CT, offers six residents a $500 stipend, private bedroom and bathroom, all meals plus full kitchen access, and access to studio space, a wide variety of common areas, and 75 acres of land to explore and enjoy.


Morgan Library & Museum x Menil Collection Morgan-Menil Fellowship
Deadline: December 3, 2023

One three-to-nine month research fellowship will be awarded to support independent projects on some aspect of the history, theory, interpretation, or cultural meaning of drawing throughout the history of art.


Rhode Island School of Design Movement Lab Fellowship
Deadline: December 4, 2023

This program supports postgraduate work that explores movement at the intersection of language, identity, cultures, ecosystems, and/or peoples. Work can include animation, filmmaking, immersive arts, performance, game arts, dance, puppetry, robotics, and kinetic sculpture.


NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowships
Deadline: December 13, 2023

An $8,000 unrestricted cash grant available to artists living in New York State and/or one of the Tribal Nations located therein, this fellowship is awarded in fifteen different disciplines over a three-year period (the five categories being fiction, folk/traditional art, interdisciplinary work, painting, and video/film), and is intended to fund an artist’s vision or voice at all levels of their artistic development.


Fine Arts Work Center Writing Fellowship
Provincetown, Massachusetts

Deadline: December 15, 2023

This fellowship offers 20 seven-month residencies to a juried group of emerging fiction writers and poets. Each Fellow receives an apartment and a monthly stipend of $1,250 plus an exit stipend of $1,000.


WNC Center for Craft Artist in Residence
Deadline: December 15, 2023

The WNC Center for Craft Artist Residency will provide two Western North Carolina (WNC) based artists with time, space, and resources to tend to their artistic practices. Each resident will receive a $10,000 honorarium, a $2,000 materials/professional development stipend, daily access to a 200 square foot studio space and shared studio resources, a Flex Desk Co-work pass in the Center for Craft’s National Hub, as well as monthly downtown parking or bus fare stipend.


Newberry Library Artist in Residence Fellowships
Deadline: December 15, 2023

Apply for three different fellowships for visual and performing artists, writers, journalists, filmmakers, and other humanists, each with a $3,000 stipend.


WORTHLESSSTUDIOS Resident Photographer Open Call 
Deadline: December 15, 2023

WORTHLESSSTUDIOS is looking for a local photographer (East Williamsburg/Bushwick) for a one-month-long residency in their Airstream mobile darkroom, starting mid-February 2024, including a $2,500 stipend.


Aviário Studio Artist Book Residency Open Call
Zêzere, Portugal
Deadline: December 17, 2023

This residency aims to promote exploration and production in the Artist Book field. Artist books are consensually understood as an object that takes the shape or the dynamics of a book, and is made by an artist.


MAP Fund 2024 Grant Cycle
Deadline: December 19, 2023

In this grant cycle, MAP will distribute $2.8M to more than 90 new live performance projects. Each selected team will receive a $25,000 grant for the creation of a performance project, a $5,000 unrestricted general operating grant, and a $1,000 micro-grant to redistribute to an artist in their community.


Orange County’s Innovation Lab Public Art Call
Deadline: December 27, 2023

The Orange County Public Art Review Board is commissioning a $77,600 budget for  one or more artists or artist team(s) to develop artwork for Orange County’s Innovation Lab located in the suburb of Pine Hills.


Anna Rabinowitz Award for Poetry
Deadline: December 31, 2023

$1,000 is awarded to poets and their collaborators for venturesome, interdisciplinary work combining poetry and any other art or discipline. Application fee: $10.


Poetry Society of America Awards
Deadline: December 31, 2023

The Poetry Society of America has a variety of awards, ranging from $250 to $2,500, for poetry and manuscripts.


Aviário Studio Multidisciplinary Residency
Zêzere, Portugal
Deadline: December 31, 2023

This residency aims to support artists to develop projects using a medium or a combination of technologies. Aviário Studio is an artist-run space with workshops equipped to develop works on Printmaking, Ceramics, Wood, Metal, Sculpture, Installation, Drawing, Painting, Photography and Bookbinding.

Six contemporary artists working in 2D or 3D art will receive $2,000 each including PR and marketing support.


Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts Residency
Deadline: January 7, 2024

Saltonstall offers free residencies to artists and writers who are year-round residents of New York State and/or one of the Indian Nations located therein. Categories include Poetry, Fiction & Creative Nonfiction, Photography (film or digital) & Filmmaking, Painting, Sculpture, and Visual Arts.


Tusen Takk Foundation 2025 Visual Artist Residency
Deadline: January 7, 2023

Open to mid-career and established visual artists, apply for a  three- to eight-week solo residencies in 2025. Residents are provided with housing, 24/7 access to studio space, $625/week, and a vehicle for local transportation.


The Good Hart Artist Residency
Deadline: January 8, 2024

This residency offers 10-21 day residency stays to visual artists, writers, and composers at any stage of their career. Each artist is housed in a private residence with a detached studio and provided with a $500.00 stipend, a kitchen stocked with basic foods, a few home-cooked meals from local hosts, and a quiet setting along the shores of Lake Michigan.


Joshua Tree Highlands Artist Residency
Deadline: January 10, 2024

This residency awards an international community of artists the gifts of time and space amidst the extraordinary natural beauty of Joshua Tree National Park. Seven week residencies include scholarship funds, living accommodations, and studio space designed to accommodate a broad range of artistic activity and open studio events.


Paper Chase Press Make-A-Mag Contest
Deadline: January 12, 2024

Make-a-Mag is a unique competition that will award one winner the chance to launch their magazine idea with the first print run provided free of charge. All that is needed to apply is an idea for a magazine, it does not need to be fully designed or conceptualized.


Folger Institute Artistic Research Fellowships
Deadline: January 15, 2024

Open to all artists whose work would benefit from significant primary research related to the histories, concepts, art, and objects of the early modern world (ca. 1400-1800) and its legacies, applicants may apply for one, two, or three months of research support, with a stipend of $4,000 per month.


The Saltonstall X Circus Culture Hupstate Residency
Deadline: January 15, 2024

This residency is designed to provide a generous and spacious environment for the development of the circus arts in NY State and/or Indian Nations based therein, and provides housing for 7 nights/8 days (Sunday April 7th- Sunday April 14th) with a private room, $100 travel stipend, access to up to 6 hours per day of shared circus studio time at Circus Culture, pantry staples, local vegetables for breakfast and lunch, and communal dinners provided by a private chef.


Adolph & Esther Gottlieb Foundation 2024 Individual Support Grants
Deadline: January 17, 2024

These grants are available to individual painters, sculptors, and printmakers who have worked in a mature phase of art for 20 years or more.


National Portrait Gallery Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition
Deadline: January 26, 2024

Select works will be featured in a major exhibition in 2025. The first prize winner will receive $25,000 and a commission to portray a remarkable living American for the museum’s collection. Fee: $50


Hayama Artist Residency
Hayama, Japan
Deadline: January 31, 2024

The residency offers a roundtrip flight to Japan, shared accommodations with one other artist-in-residence for 4 weeks, and a weekly allotment of $200 USD for meals and local transportation. Residency also includes an exhibition in Tokyo. Open to visual artists over 21 years old, working in any medium. Application fee: $95.


Fine Arts Work Center 2024-2025 Visual Arts Fellowship
Deadline: February 1, 2024

Ten annual fellowships will be awarded to visual artists for a seven-month residency that runs from October 1 – April 30.  Fellows are provided with a private furnished apartment, a work studio, a $1250 monthly stipend plus a $1000 exit stipend to support relocation at the end of the Fellowship. Fee: $40.


John Michael Arts Center/Kohler Company Arts/Industry Residency
Deadline: February 1, 2024

The Arts/Industry Residency program brings artists to a factory production floor to explore new ideas, processes, and perspectives. Artists from all disciplines are encouraged to apply.
