For February, we recommend checking out the BAVC Media’s fellowship program, which will award $10,000 to eight documentary film projects nearing post-production; the Brown University Practitioner Fellowship, which grants $10,000 to artists, media makers, and writers whose work focuses on race, ethnicity, or indigeneity; and the Theater Mitu Hybrid Arts Lab, providing $5,000 to trans, non-binary, and women artists working at the intersection of performance and technology!

Virginia A. Groot Foundation Grant

Fine Arts Work Center Visual Arts Fellowship

This fellowship opportunity offers emerging visual artists a seven month residency to focus solely on their work. Fellows receive a monthly stipend, housing and a work studio, exhibition opportunities, and a $1000 monthly stipend plus $1000 exit stipend to support relocation at the end of the Fellowship. Arrowmont Artists-in-Residence Program
Gatlinburg, Tennessee

The Arrowmont Artists-in-Residence Program is open to early career craft artists. The artists selected for this 11 month program will receive a monthly stipend, shared housing with private bedrooms and meals, and a private studio. Residents provide instruction for Arrowmont’s children’s education program, ArtReach, and are offered paid teaching opportunities.
Theater Mitu Hybrid Arts Lab

The Hybrid Arts Lab is a program supporting trans, non-binary, and women artists working at the intersection of performance and technology. This support includes a $5,000 stipend, creation and exhibition space, technical resources, training, and mentorship for the exploration, development, and expansion of their practice and new artwork.
Project Room Open Call

Locust Projects invites local, national, and international visual artists to apply for the opportunity to access the space and resources to create ambitious, large-scale new work. Governors Island Winter Ice Sculpture Show

The Trust for Governors Island and Lower Manhattan Cultural Council invite artists of all backgrounds and disciplines to submit an idea for an ice sculpture, to be completed in the two-hour public event on February 26! Selected artists or teams will receive an award of $2,000 to participate, working with a professional ice carver to complete the work on the day of the event.
MacDowell Fellowship

OneBeat Virtual 2022

OneBeat is accepting applications for OneBeat Virtual 2022, which will digitally convene approximately 35 musicians from 50 eligible countries and territories. This fully virtual residency program will take place from July 11th – September 6th 2022. Open to Musicians and sonic artists, ages 19-35, this virtual residency offers a unique opportunity for mentorship and collaborative exchange, a $1,500 USD honorarium, and a stipend for equipment.
Center for Craft Curatorial Fellowship

This fellowship program supports emerging craft curators to explore and test new ideas about craft. The award is worth up to $5,000.
Mother’s Milk International Artist & Writer Residency

Mother’s Milk is a 2-6 week interdisciplinary residency, designed to support three or four visual artists, sound artists, or creative writers, who are pursuing innovative work in their field. There is a $25 application fee.
MediaMaker Fellowship

BAVC Media’s ten-month-long program supports the development of documentary projects that are nearing post-production. The selected eight Fellows—half Bay Area-based and half from elsewhere in the United States—will receive $10,000 each.
Saltonstall x Circus Culture Juried Residency

The Saltonstall x Circus Culture residency is designed to provide a generous and spacious environment for the development of the circus arts. “Circus artist” is defined very broadly and includes designers, dramaturges, choreographers, directors, circademics, writers, photographers, riggers, performers, teaching artists, and more. The Salad Days Artist-in-Residence is commissioned to produce of plates or shallow bowls from terracotta clay for Watershed Ceramic’s Salad Days annual fundraiser, celebrating handmade ceramic work and locally-sourced food. NXTHVN Fellowship
New Haven, Connecticut

Open to artists and curators, the NXTHVN Fellowship Program catalyzes art careers and long-term creative connections through mentorship, professional development, and hands-on training. Each fellow mentors a local high school apprentice, providing them with hands-on instruction in studio and curatorial practices. The year culminates with exhibitions for the fellows and apprentices.
CERF+ Get Ready Grants

CERF+’s Get Ready Grants have awarded up to $500 to individual artists working in craft disciplines to conduct activities that will help safeguard their studios, protect their careers and prepare for emergencies.
Sustainable Arts Foundation Awards

This opportunity awards $5,000 each to twenty artists and writers with at least one child under the age of 18 and a strong portfolio. At least half of the awards will go to applicants of color. Application fee: $20.
Quinzena de Dança de Almada – International Dance Festival Open Call

New Voices Filmmaker Grant

This new initiative, a partnership between Netflix and NewFest, supports emerging LGBTQ+ filmmakers. Four filmmakers with documentary, narrative, animated or episodic projects by and about the LGBTQ+ community will each receive a $25,000 grant.
Practitioner Fellows: Brown University Center for the Study of Race and Ethnicity in America

Artists, media makers, and writers whose work focuses on race, ethnicity, and/or indigeneity in the United States can apply to be a Practitioner Fellow for Brown University’s spring 2023 academic term. Awardees will receive a $10,000 stipend and have access to up to $1,500 each in research/project funds.
Arts at Alfred Summer BIPOC Artist in Residency

Squeaky Wheel Workspace Residency

Squeaky Wheel’s Workspace Residency is a project-based residency for artists and researchers working in media arts. Selected artists receive a stipend of up to $1550 and support for accommodations and travel.
Lower East Side Printshop Keyholder Residency

This residency program offers emerging artists from all disciplines 24-hour access to printmaking facilities, career development workshops and salons, and a $1,000 stipend. Printmaking facilities are available for intaglio, relief, monotype, waterbased screenprinting, digital processes, and other techniques.

Chautauqua School of Art Residency Program

The Chautauqua School of Art residency program welcomes artists working in all disciplines who have yet to receive wide recognition of their work to apply for this residency. The curriculum intentionally breaks from the traditional methods of art education that silo disciplines from each other, and instead embraces a full range of studio and pragmatic studies including contemporary professional development. A central focus of the program is community building, which promises artists will leave with new friends, opportunities and resources well beyond their time at Chautauqua.
Kala Fellowship Award

This international award is open to artists producing innovative work in mediums including printmaking, digital media, installation art, social practice, photography, and book arts. Selected artists will receive a $3,000 stipend and a studio residency at Kala Art Institute.
Shandaken: Storm King Residency

Thus residency, located on the ground of Storm King Art Center in the Hudson Valley, is open to artists of all disciplines, and follows a process-focused model—prioritizing experimentation, research, and risk-taking in the studio. Hewlett 50 Arts Commissions Media Arts Grant

Creative Capital and the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation are partnering to administer the Hewlett 50 Arts Commissions, supporting Media Arts. Ten grants of $150,000 each will be awarded to Bay Area nonprofit organizations to commission artists in the development of major new performance-based projects that center the use of emerging media technologies.
Rising: Climate in Crisis Residencies
New Orleans, Louisiana

This residency at A Studio in the Woods is open to artists of all disciplines who have demonstrated an established dialogue with environmental and culturally related issues. Recipients will be provided with time, space, scholarship and staff support to foster critical thinking and creation of new works, as well as a $3000 as a stipend and $2000 towards materials.

Vera List Center Fellowships

This two-year, highly individualized fellowship program supports scholarly and creative work that critically engages with the theme, correction. Journalists, scholars, activists, visual and performing artists, critics, public intellectuals, curators, and cultural practitioners are eligible to apply. Selected fellows receive a $15,000 research stipend as well as extensive curatorial and professional development services.

This opportunity is open to artists working in, or interested in working in, clay or cast metal. Artists-in-residence receive 24-hour access to studio space, industrial materials, use of equipment, technical assistance, photographic services, housing, round-trip transportation, and a modest weekly stipend.
Armstrong Now Artist in Residence for 2022

This residency provides emerging artists with a platform to create new work inspired by the vast collection of artifacts and documents in the Armstrong Archives. Two residencies will be awarded to multidisciplinary artistic collaborations that draw upon Armstrong’s legacy, using the unique resources of his archives to inform new works that place Armstrong within a contemporary context. Selected artists will receive a one-time $10,000 award.
LIFT–Early Career Support for Native Artists

Native artists working in dance/choreography, fiction/poetry writing, film/video, multi-disciplinary arts, music, performance art, theater and screenplay writing, traditional arts, or 2D + 3D visual arts are eligible for this program hosted by the Native Arts and Cultures Foundation. Selected artists will receive a monetary award of $10,000 for their proposed project.
Armory Art Center Artist-in-Residence Program
West Palm Beach, Florida

This residency program for emerging artists working in 2D, jewelry and metalsmithing, ceramics, and sculpture provides participants with a studio space, the opportunity to refine their teaching skills, and a generous monthly stipend. Residents are also paid for teaching and extracurricular events in the community. Candidates must have least a BFA and 25 hours experience teaching in a studio environment.
Jadin Wong Fellowship and 2022 Van Lier Fellowship

This fellowship opportunity, is open to NYC-based, Asian American dancers with a portfolio of choreographic work, aged 30 or younger, who seeks to make an impact on the Asian American community.
Creatives Rebuild New York Artist Employment Program

This program will fund employment for 300 artists working in collaboration with community-based organizations across New York State for two years. Participating artists will receive a salary of $65,000 per year plus benefits. Community-based organizations will receive $25,000-$100,000 per year to support their collaborations with these artists.
Creatives Rebuild New York Guaranteed Income for Artists Program

This program will provide regular, no-strings-attached cash payments for 2,400 artists who have financial need. Each artist will receive $1,000 per month for 18 consecutive months.
Creative Capital 2023/2024 Grant Cycle – Wild Futures: Art, Culture, Impact

We have simplified our application process for the 2023/2024 grant cycle—”Wild Futures: Art, Culture, Impact.” The 2023 Award Cycle is open March 1 to April 1, 2022 and invites projects in Performing Arts, Technology, and Literature. Selected projects will receive awards of varying amounts up to $50,000 with additional advisory services.
The Franklin Furnace Fund Grant

The Franklin Furnace Fund supports early career artists interested in producing major performance art works in New York City. Grants range from $2,000 to $10,000 and will be allocated according to a peer reviewed panel.
Changing Climate Residency

The Foundation for Contemporary Arts offers Emergency Grants between $200 and $3,000 for visual and performing artists.
