The Non-Adventures of Not-a-Superhero is a series of short animations for the Internet and other venues, chronicling the adventures of Luca Buvoli’s long-running character, Not-a-Superhero. A mix of digital and stop-motion animation, the project echoes the strategies, characters and techniques of television sitcom and action programming and applies them to existential dilemmas and situations. In his struggles and battles with foes, Not-a-Superhero reflects on illusions of power. Buvoli’s character upends the authoritative construct of the American Hero, instead offering a character that is vulnerable and sympathetic.
