Edisa Weeks: WASTELANDIA
September 19—28, 2025
Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art
Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden
Staten Island, NY
Edisa Week‘s WASTELANDIA is an immersive theatrical dance experience that happens in five of the gallery spaces at the Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art at Snug Harbor. The performance ritual for thirty guests, invites you to engage in a world built from recycled plastic. It includes creative reuse workshops; a mural featuring activists on Staten Island that the audience can color in; an interactive trash tunnel; lots of dancing; and a game show with audience contestants. The work is about our potential future and what we can do as stewards of life on earth.
WASTELANDIA is the first part of DELIRIOUS Dances/Edisa Weeks’ 3 RITES Trilogy which investigates why Life, Liberty and Happiness were included as inalienable rights in the United States Declaration of Independence.
