Stephanie Dinkins is a transdisciplinary artist creating platforms for ongoing dialogue about artificial intelligence as it intersects race, gender, aging, and our future histories. Her art employs lens-based practices, the manipulation of space, and technology to grapple with notions of consciousness, agency, perception, and social equity. She is driven to work with communities of color to develop AI literacy and co-create more inclusive and equitable artificial intelligence.
Dinkins’ work is exhibited in a broad spectrum of public, private, and institutional venues, including Contemporary Art Museum Houston, Wave Hill, and the Studio Museum in Harlem. The New York Times recently featured Dinkins in its pages as an AI influencer. Apple Inc recognized Dinkins’ research and community-centered efforts by featuring her as a local hero in their “Behind the Mac” ad campaign (Brooklyn, NY edition). Dinkins has received Fellowships and Residencies from organizations such as A Blade of Grass, The Laundromat Project, EYEBEAM, Soros Foundation, Data and Society Research Institute Fellow, and Nokia Bell Labs.

Artist BioNot the Only One (NTOO) is a multigenerational memoir of a black American family told from the mind of an artificial intelligence of evolving intellect. It is designed by, trained inclusively and aligned with the interests and culture(s) of people of color.
