Freeway Extractions

Ruben Ochoa

Artist Bio

Freeway Extractions is a two-part photomural project in Los Angeles. In the first phase, Ruben Ochoa photographs the surrounding vegetation near freeway walls, then digitally creates wallpaper of the shrubbery on adhesive vinyl sheeting. Second, with a team of assistants, Ochoa mounts these wallpaper murals on public freeway walls throughout Southern California, document the process, and then remove them. Freeway Extractions is a way to engage a space where class, culture and art can collide.
