Digital media artist, Jane D. Marsching’s work has been exhibited at North Carolina Museum of Art; CEPA Gallery, Buffalo, NY; Photographic Resource Center, Boston, MA; Nexus Foundation, Philadelphia; and The Institute of Contemporary Art Boston. She has received grants from LEF Foundation, Artadia, Massachusetts Cultural Council, Onandaga Cultural Council, and Artists Resource Trust. With Mark Alice Durant, she curated The Blur of the Otherworldly: Contemporary Art, Technology, and the Paranormal, at The Center for Art and Visual Culture, Baltimore, MD; a catalog of the exhibition includes essays by Marsching, Durant, Marina Warner and Lynne Tillman. With iKatun and Andi Sutton, she is a founder of Platform2: Art and Social Engagement, an experimental forum series about creative practices at the intersection of social issues. The events are designed as places for reflection, discussion and exchange of creative intervention practices. Past events include: Art & Activism, The Commons, Risk. Jane Marsching teaches at Massachusetts College of Art. She is represented by Allston Skirt Gallery, Boston, MA.
Arctic Listening Post
Arctic Listening Post is an interdisciplinary collaborative series of digital images and sculptures that explore current and historic impressions of the Arctic. The works are composed using three-dimensional modeling techniques and draw on scientific data, as well as science fiction, vaudeville and architectural drawings. At once irreverent and scientific, the work explores the relationship of science and myth to the circumpolar landscape, while also detailing the collapse of the area due to environmental changes.
