Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winner Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ (2016 Awardee) Broadway play Purpose explores generational tensions rooted in lineage, especially as they intersect with religion and politics. The story follows a youngest son’s return home with an unexpected guest, who becomes a catalyst for the Jasper family to reflect on their Black radical ideals.
