Jane Comfort was honored with a Bessie Award for her work, Underground River. Her company has been presented by such venues as Lincoln Center’s Serious Fun! Festival, The Joyce Theater, Classic Stage Company, Performance Space 122, Dance Theater Workshop, The American Center in Paris, Antwerp’s de Singel Theater, and many theaters and colleges nationally and internationally.
Asphalt is an evening-length dance theater work, with music by composer Toshi Reagon and text by spoken word artist Carl Hancock Rux. Asphalt tells the story of Racine, an aspiring DJ who uses the elements of jazz, classical, and trip hop beats to transcend his urban reality and enter a world made right by music.
