Residencies and Opportunities for Artists With June Deadlines

Summer is a great time to focus on finishing up the projects you started at the beginning of the year. Below, we have compiled our monthly list of artist residencies and grant opportunities, some with the aim of helping you wrap up your film, visual arts piece or whatever medium your practice entails.
Freehaus Art School
Wales, United Kingdom
Deadline: June 2, 2017
The Freehaus Art School has 6 one-month residencies for artists interested in helping them develop their social engaged program. Residents will receive free access to their studio space, £3000, and travel support to their school in North Wales. 3 proposals will be chosen for their LLawn05 Festival in September, 2017.

Squeaky Wheel Film and Media Art Center
Buffalo, NY
Deadline: June 5, 2017
Artists working in the fields of moving image, time-based media and emergent technologies are welcome to apply to this project-based summer residency, that lasts the month of August. Residents will have the opportunity to receive one-on-one critiques, and be invited site visits exploring Buffalo. They will also receive $900 stipend, and travel and housing funds will be available.

Meliggoi Residency Program
Meliggoi, Greece
Deadline: June 7, 2017
This residency is a 20-day program for photographers. It’s based in the village of Meliggoi in Greece. The residency provides food, accommodation with wifi and a grant of 500 euros.

ThoughtWorks Residency: The Implications of AI
New York, NY
Deadline: June 8, 2017
ThoughtWorks, a global software consultancy with an arts residency based in New York City is looking for an artist/technologist who works in their art practice with issues surrounding the design, use and implementation of artificial intelligence. The artist does not need to be an expert in programming AI systems, but a basic understanding is helpful. The 14-week residency comes with a $10,000 stipend, workspace and project support.

Tabakalera International Centre for Contemporary Culture
San Sebastián, Spain
Deadline: June 15, 2017

The Tabakalerar residency offers space, context and time for the development of an artistic project. Their residencies also come with travel support, and a living, monthly stipend. This call is open to all physical or legal persons, living in the Basque Autonomous Community, national or international. The residency, which will last between four and twelve weeks, and is open to artists of all nationalities.
