Larissa Fasthorse is a Sicangu Lakota playwright, director, and choreographer. In 2020, Fasthorse was named a MacArthur Fellow and The Thanksgiving Play was one of the top ten most produced plays in America. This made her the first Native American playwright in the history of American theater to be featured on this list. She has since formed Indigenous Direction, the nation’s leading consulting company for Indigenous arts and audiences, and has worked with Freeform, Disney Channel, Apple TV, and NBC.
Rachel Chavkin is a 2013 Creative Capital Grantee, Drama Desk nominated, two-time Obie Award winning director and educator. Her work has been seen on Broadway in Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, and Hadestown, both of which received Tony nominations for Outstanding Director of a Musical. Chavkin won the Tony Award for Hadestown. She will be directing The Thanksgiving Play at Second Stage Theater.
