After making 45 short films over the course of her career, Jennifer Reeder is getting ready to premiere her first-ever feature, her Creative Capital project, Knives and Skin. Using both experimental and narrative filmmaking techniques and aesthetics, the work explores the aftermath of a young girl’s disappearance in a rural, racially diverse town in Ohio. As with all of her films, the teenage girls (not the parents) are full of wisdom, healing capability, and self-empowerment.
