Ina Archer: To Deceive the Eye
Experience To Deceive the Eye by Ina Archer (2005 Creative Capital Awardee), an exhibition that reveals the ways in which visual advancements have been used to perpetuate stereotypes and racist tropes. Through multi-channel video installation, 16mm film, watercolors, and other works on view, Archer draws attention to the representation of African Americans and “the other” in cinema, the media, and the wider culture, from the mid-1800s until present day.
