Carmen Amengual’s (2024 Awardee) first solo institutional exhibition in the U.S., A Non-Coincidental Mirror features a film installation of Amengual’s Creative Capital project. Resulting from the artist’s ongoing research into the little explored First Third World Filmmakers Meetings in Algiers in 1973 and in Buenos Aires in 1974, Amengual embarks on a field investigation that takes her to Algiers, Buenos Aires, and Rome to follow the thread of these forgotten events.
