As COVID-19 continues to affect the world around us, we have made it easy to find the residencies that will host artists in the coming year, as well as grants, fellowships, and prizes with open applications. Individual artists in financial need due to the COVID-19 outbreak can now apply for unrestricted emergency funding of $5,000 grants from Artist Relief through December 10, 2020.
Creative Residency at Bloedel Reserve
Bainbridge Island, Washington
Deadline: October 1, 2020
Artists working in visual arts, performing arts, poetry, prose fiction & non-fiction, or research relating to or inspired by nature can apply for this three-week residency program with access to 150 acres of sculpted gardens, forests, and wildlife habitats.
Jan Van Eyck Academie Residency
Maastricht, The Netherlands
Deadline: October 1, 2020
Artists, curators, designers, writers, and architects are welcome to apply for this twelve-month residency. Participants receive a monthly stipend of €900 and a working budget of €2,000 annually.
The HARPO Foundation Emerging Artist Fellowship Residency
Santa Fe, New Mexico

This six-week residency at the Santa Fe Art Institute provides an emerging visual artist with the space and time to explore ideas and start new projects in a residency context at a pivotal moment in their professional development.
Craft Research Fund Artist Fellowship

This fellowship awards of $20,000 to artists in order to advance, expand, and support the creation of new research and knowledge through craft practice.
Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park Artist Residency
Hawai’i County, Hawai’i

The National Parks Arts Foundation invites artists of all artistic media to join their artist-in-residency program at Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park, which offers a $2,000 stipend, a studio, housing, events, and workshops.
National Sculpture Society Grants
Deadline: October 5, 2020
The National Sculpture Society offers three $5,000 grants to sculptors with mature bodies of work: artists working in bas-relief and in the round with subject matter inspired by nature, figurative or realist sculptors, and artists specializing in animal sculpture.
Dancers Above Water Relief Fund

This fund provides financial support of $500 and/or goods and services to a New York-based professional modern or contemporary dancer or choreographer in need due to the pandemic.
Wave Hill Van Lier Fellowship

This one-year fellowship is awarded to two emerging New York City-based artists from underrepresented populations with a $10,435 stipend, studio space for six weeks in the winter, and a solo show.
Halcyon Arts Lab Fellowship
Washington, DC

This five-month residential fellowship is designed to support emerging artists who create work rooted in social change. Artists will receive work and live space, a $5,000 stipend, and more.
Foundwork Artist Prize
Deadline: October 15, 2020
The Foundwork Artist Prize recognizes outstanding practice by contemporary artists, open internationally to artists working in any media. The honoree receives an unrestricted $10,000 grant, and studio visits with the distinguished jurors.
Kala Artist-in-Residence Program

Artists working in various printmaking techniques, photo-processes, book arts and digital media including video production can apply for this residency program at Kala Arts Institute. Resident artists receive year-round 24-hour access to the printmaking workshop and/or electronic media center, individual storage space, and more.
The Bennett Prize

The Bennett Prize awards $50,000 to a woman artist to create her own solo exhibition of figurative realist paintings, which will travel the country.
The Laundromat Project Create Change Open Call

Antenna Gallery Open Calls

Zócalo Artist-in-Residency Program

Emerging and established US-based artists and collaboratives who have a strong interest in deepening a collaborative, community-engaged creative practice can apply for this residency. The programs offer fully-funded housing in a private apartment studio on a 10-acre campus, a monthly working stipend, need-based project funding, and hands-on support.
Barbara Hammer Lesbian Experimental Filmmaking Grant

This is an annual grant, now worth $7,000, that will be awarded to self-identified lesbians for making visionary moving-image art. Work can be experimental animation, experimental documentary, experimental narrative, cross-genre, or solely experimental.
NXTHVN Studio Fellowship

Through active participation in NXTHVN’s programs, early-career artists and curators make the personal strides and interpersonal connections that advance their careers. Artists receive a stipend, subsidized housing, studio space, and more.
The Center for Ballet and the Arts Fellowship

The program awards residencies to artists and scholars across disciplines to work on projects that expand the way we think about the history, practice, and performance of dance. The fellowship provides space, a stipend, and time to pursue rigorous work.
Sandy Crimmins National Prize for Poetry

This annual national poetry prize is worth $1,000 for first place, and $250 for runners up. The prize celebrates risk, innovation, and emotional engagement, and encourage poets from underrepresented groups and backgrounds to send apply.
Women’s Studio Workshop Artist’s Book Grant

This residency is designed to help artists produce a limited edition book work. The grant includes a stipend of $350 per week, up to $750 for materials, up to $250 for travel, free onsite housing, and studio access.

NYFA and the Rasuchenberg Foundation have teamed up to offer visual and media artists and choreographers in the US grants of up to $5,000 for medical related emergencies.
Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grant

Do you have an unanticipated opportunity to present your work? Did you incur an unexpected expense that you didn’t budget for? The Foundation for Contemporary Arts offers Emergency Grants between $200 and $2,500 for visual and performing artists. They review applications once a month, so you can quickly take advantage of momentum or solve any budget errors.
Joan Mitchell Emergency Grant

The Joan Mitchell Foundation provides grants of up to $6,000 to US-based visual artists who have suffered significant physical losses after natural or man-made disasters.
Gottlieb Emergency Grant Program

This emergency grant provides financial assistance to painters, printmakers, and sculptors whose needs are the result of an unforeseen incident, and who lack the resources to meet that situation.
Rhizome Microgrant Program
Deadline: rolling basis
The microgrant program awards $500–$1,500 to proposals with a compelling vision for net art, which considers political radicalization and the internet.
