A Magical Evening: Photos from our 2012 Benefit & Auction

On May 10, Board Member Paige West hosted Creative Capital’s third annual Benefit & Auction at her Tribeca Home.

The event featured amazing artwork contributed by Creative Capital grantees, including these three pieces by Edgar Arceneaux, Sam Van Aken and Paul Shambroom, which were sold in a live auction at the event.

Eve Sussman created a new project, Elevated Train, to benefit Creative Capital. Elevated Train is a series of 120 stereoscopic viewers that each house a unique set of panoramic slides that merge in the viewer into a 3-D image. We set up a viewing station downstairs so attendees could browse through the viewers.

President & Executive Director Ruby Lerner welcomed everyone and introduced the night’s entertainment.

Meet magicians Louis Magic, Dennis Diamond and Daryl Hannah! They’re fresh off a run of their show Elephant Room (from the minds of CC grantees Steve Cuiffo, Geoff Sobelle and Trey Lyford) at St. Ann’s Warehouse in Brooklyn.

A magical toast to Creative Capital!

The magicians performed some amazing tricks…and got a little silly.

Let the auction begin! Auctioneer Sara Friedlander of Christie’s led the live auction.

Board Member Jeffrey Soros gets in on the bidding.

A surprise auction item! Out of the crowd, grantee Mel Chin offers up a first edition monograph, to be illustrated for the buyer on the spot!

Loralee West, host Paige West’s mother, was the winning bidder. She asked Mel to draw her three adorable grandsons.

Look at all that color! Paige West’s unique, art-filled home was the perfect backdrop for our festivities. Thanks again to Paige and all of our amazing artists and friends who came out to show their support!
