Meet the “mama bears,” a network of conservative, Christian mothers whose profound love for their LGBTQ+ children has turned them into fierce advocates for the entire queer community. Spread across the country but connected through private Facebook groups, these fierce women are willing to risk losing friends, family, and faith communities to keep their offspring safe — even if it challenges their belief systems and rips their worlds apart.

This Creative Capital Project by Daresha Kyi will be screened as part of the Newfest LGBTQ+ Film Festival, virtually on October 13-25, and in-person on October 21 (followed by a Q&A with the artist).
