Beneath Land and Water: A Project for Elkhorn City
Suzanne Lacy has been creating installations, public art projects, and performances since 1972.
Artist BioBeneath Land and Water: A Project for Elkhorn City 2000-2004 is a public art project created with local residents of Elkhorn City, Kentucky (an Appalachian town) in conjunction with Appalshop. It includes five components: a walking trail along the bank of the Russell River, a series of “pocket parks” linking the walking trail with the Main Street of Elkhorn City, a clean-up of a duck pond contaminated by a gas station spill, and a tile mural depicting the experiences of Elkhorn City residents.
