McColl Center Artist-in-Residence Program
Charlotte, NC
Deadline: June 1, 2024

McColl Center’s Artist-in-Residence Program for Winter-Spring 2025 sparks artistic growth for emerging and mid-career artists. Residents enjoy private housing, a large-scale studio, guidance, marketing support, and a stipend. They have the freedom to focus on artistic exploration and engage with the local creative community. Access to shared labs: 3D, ceramics, media, and woodshop.


Artadia San Francisco
Deadline: June 1, 2024

The Artadia Awards provide financial support, exposure, and recognition to artists. The awards are unrestricted, allowing artists to use the funds in any way they choose. Applicants must be a contemporary visual artist making artwork for presentation in a contemporary art context.


Cutty Hunk Island Artists’ Residency
Cuttyhunk Island, MA
Deadline: June 1, 2024

On a small island off the coast of Massachusetts, CIAR offers twelve visual artists focused time and a uniquely supportive environment to develop their work. Full and partial fellowships are available for artists to attend the residency for free or at a lower cost. Residency Dates: September 3 – 10, 2024.

Jazz Road Tours
Deadline: June 1, 2024

Jazz Road Tours offer grants of up to $15,000 to develop tours in communities across the country. Support is for small, three- to six-site tours at an array of venue types, often in rural communities and other areas traditionally underserved by the genre.


Anolic Family Awards
Deadline: June 1, 2024

Early Career Visual Arts
The Early Career Visual Arts award offers $1,000 towards the completion of a specific project in painting, drawing, sculpture, or mixed-media. Active early career Jewish visual artists between the ages of 25 and 35 may apply. 

Jewish Book Arts
The sum of $1,500 will be awarded towards the creation of a unique or limited-edition work in the field of Jewish book arts. All active, professional artists, working in the field of book arts, who have exhibited within the last five years are eligible to apply.


Black Cinema Collective Microgrant
Deadline: June 2, 2024

This juried grant will offer two  awardees $7,500 each towards the post-production needs of current film projects, in any genre, for shorts or features, along with subscription and digital prizes sponsored by MUBI and bi-coastal screening opportunities in 2025 with New York African Film Festival and Northwest Film Forum.


Colony Emerging Design Studio Residency
Deadline: June 3, 2024

The Colony Residency works to introduce the international design market to emerging American talent. Through an 8-month incubator program resulting in an exclusive collection, The Residency ushers forth a new generation of designers, artists and makers into the contemporary design vernacular of today.


Florida Division of Arts and Culture Specific Cultural Projects
Deadline: June 3, 2024

The Specific Cultural Project grant is designed to fund a single cultural project, program, exhibition, or series. The grant activities must support the mission of the organization or artist and further the state’s cultural objectives. All applicants must be Florida-based.


Gerbode Foundation Dance & Movement Awards
California
Deadline: June 6, 2024

The Gerbode Foundation offers funding for the creation and development of new dance and movement-based projects by California choreographers, culture bearers, traditional and tradition-based artists, and movement-based artists. The new dance works will be commissioned and produced by Bay Area nonprofit artist-centered organizations that can apply for grants of $50,000 each. 


California Arts Council
Deadline: June 6, 2024

The 2024 grant program offerings were selected and developed with several of the agency’s stated values in mind, among them accessibility, autonomy with accountability, equity, and sustainability. New and varying policies for eligibility have been implemented in an effort to achieve maximum benefit and broadest impact across the state. 


Quilt and Fiber Festival
Deadline: June 6, 2024

The Pacific Northwest’s premier quilt and fiber art festival features work from across the U.S. and the world. Entry is open to all national and international quilters and fiber artists. Cash prizes of $500.


Beyond the Scars
Deadline: June 7, 2024

Art Fluent invites artists worldwide to submit work to their online exhibit, BEYOND THE SCARS. Open to all fine art mediums (oil, acrylic, watermedia, pastel, drawing, printmaking, mixed media, photography, sculpture, fiber, wood, ceramics, film/video, digital art). Awards of up to $750. Fee: $25.


Outta Pocket
Deadline: June 7, 2024

Outta Pocket is an exhibition that highlights creative work using clay or ceramics in an atypical, nontraditional, eclectic, or eccentric way. This could include work utilizing mixed media, cold or alternative surfaces, new technologies or emerging hybrid practices. Prizes of up to $150. Fee: $25.


10x10x10xTieton
Deadline: June 7, 2024

10x10x10xTieton invites artists to create work no larger than 10 inches in any dimension. With no media restrictions, this annual international juried exhibition presents a broad range of pieces, from sculpture to painting, sound collage, book arts, photography, and everything in between. Fee: $30.


Women in Watercolor
Deadline: June 8, 2024

This online only competition encourages, supports, and promotes outstanding women who work in watercolor. Open to all female artists working in watercolor on paper, synthetic paper, watercolor board, Yupo, or other two-dimensional surfaces. Fee: $35.


Great Meadows Foundation Artist Professional Development Grants
Kentucky and Indiana
Deadline: June 9, 2024

Grants promote the growth and development of visual art by helping improve the critical skills, resources, knowledge, and connections of artists. Applicants must reside in the Great Meadows Foundation region, which encompasses the 120 counties of Kentucky, and the Greater Louisville area of Clark and Floyd counties in Indiana. Grants range between $500 and $6,000.


Vilcek Prizes for Creative Promise in Design and Curatorial Work
Deadline: June 10, 2024

The Vilcek Foundation will award three Prizes for Creative Promise of $50,000 each to young, immigrant visual artists, and three Prizes for Creative Promise of $50,000 each to young, immigrant curators who demonstrate outstanding early achievement in their field. 


Headlands Center for the Arts
Deadline: June 10, 2024

Artist in Residence (AIR)
The program offers fully sponsored residencies and studios to local, national, and international artists working in all disciplines.

The Chamberlain Award
This fully sponsored artist residency and $10,000 prize will support an artist working in the social practice discipline. The award supports artists employing non-traditional media to creatively engage with social concerns of the day. 

The Chiaro Award
This fully sponsored artist residency and $15,000 prize will support a mid-career painter residing in the United States. The residency includes a private studio, and inclusion in a dynamic network of Headlands’ creative practitioners and thinkers.


Art Renewal Center
Deadline: June 13, 2024

Dedicated to 21st-century Realism, ARC offers over $130,000 in cash awards and international recognition. Categories include Figurative, Portraiture, Imaginative Realism, Drawing, Landscape, Still Life, Plein Air Painting, Fully From Life, Sculpture, Animals, and a special category for teens. Fee: $93.


Lodz Abstract Art Festival
Deadline: June 14, 2024

LAAF supports new points of view in the field of abstract art. The competition is aimed at students and graduates of higher artistic schools, as well as adult individuals who do not possess a diploma but can demonstrate artistic activity and achievements. Participants may originate from Poland or abroad.


Utah Women
Deadline: June 14, 2024

This juried exhibition is open for Utah women artists, 18 years and older, currently residing in Utah. Original art in all media, except video and installation, will be accepted, and must have been completed in the past two years. Fee: $25.


Friend of the Artist
Deadline: June 15, 2024

This opportunity is dedicated to elevating the work of artists of all mediums around the world through high quality art books and caliber of exposure. Selected work will appear in an art book by Friend of the Artist. Fee: $35.


Stove Works Residency
Chattanooga, TN
Deadline: June 15, 2024

This residency invites eight artists to live and work for one to three months at a time in Chattanooga, TN. Six of the studios are designed to accommodate artists who require significant space in their practice, while the remaining two accommodate non-object based practices, i.e. writers, curators, and academics. Fee: $20–$30.


Vermont Studio Center
Deadline: June 15, 2024

Vermont Studio Center provides residencies in an inclusive, international community, honoring creative work as the communication of spirit through form. VSC invites writers and visual artists from around the world to mentor residents, present readings, facilitate craft talks, and give lectures that are open to the public. Fee: $25.


Sumac Space
Deadline: June 16, 2024

Sumac Space–Art Practices of the Middle East in collaboration with hinterland invites artists, curators, and research bodies who address contemporary urgencies in the context of the challenging socio-political circumstances of the region to submit their work and projects for exhibition in Berlin or/and in Vienna. There are no restrictions based on nationality, age, or experience level, and there are no limitations on the media, materials, or techniques to be used in the projects. 


Center for Performance Research Open Call: Fall Movement 
Deadline: June 18, 2024 by 5PM EST

CPR invites proposals for live performance works to be presented as part of Fall Movement on December 6 and 7, 2024. Fall Movement is an opportunity for artists to present new work in dance, performance, and time-based art in a shared program, and is curated by an independent panel of artists through an Open Call. Individual artists, collectives, and companies may propose a live performance work that is 15-20 minutes in length. CPR encourages applicants to submit work with experimental approaches to content, form, and aesthetic, and values risk-taking and the unexpected.


Weather Photographer of the Year
Deadline: June 18, 2024

Hosted by the Royal Meteorological Society, this competition showcases the world’s most striking weather and climate photographs and provides an international platform to raise awareness about the environmental issues putting our planet at risk. Open to photographers of all ages and abilities, including professionals and amateurs, and is free to enter. £5,000 cash prize.


Grants for Artists’ Progress (GAP)
Washington State

Grants for Artists’ Progress (GAP) are unrestricted grants of $1,500 for artists working in all disciplines across Washington State.


Imagine 2200: Climate Fiction for Future Ancestors
Deadline: June 24, 2024

Grist invites writers from all over the globe to imagine a future in which solutions to the climate crisis flourish and help bring about radical improvements to our world. Winning writers will be awarded up to $3,000. All winners and finalists will have their story published in an immersive collection on Grist’s website.


IDA Funds Open Call
Deadline: June 25, 2024

This year, International Documentary Association is streamlining their grant application process into one Open Call, providing over $500,000 in documentary filmmaking funds! You can apply for IDA’s Enterprise Documentary Fund and Pare Lorentz Documentary Fund in the same place. The theme for the 2024 Pare Lorentz Fund will be Gender Justice. The Fund is open to artists worldwide and will also select one immersive nonfiction project for the 3-project cohort. IDA Enterprise Documentary Fund supports in-depth explorations of original, contemporary stories that integrate journalistic practice into the filmmaking process.


Hide Tanning and Parfleche Residency
Banff, Alberta

This three-week visual arts residency focuses on hide scraping, bone tool making, and working with parfleche with the support of faculty, elders, and knowledge keepers. This program welcomes Indigenous visual artists with traditional and/or contemporary arts practices.


Midwest Open
Deadline: June 29, 2024

The Midwest Open is an annual exhibition at Woman Made Gallery that highlights the achievements of women and nonbinary artists living in the American Midwest. All media and subject matter will be considered. WMG is looking for work unique to the vision of each artist, work that needs the world to complete it, or work that sings a song from the heart(land). Fee: $35.


Fiberart International
Deadline: June 30, 2024

Fiberart International invites submissions that reflect a wide range of works related to the fiber medium. The exhibition is recognized around the world as a benchmark that documents trends and innovations in the field. The goal is to include innovative work rooted in traditional fiber materials, structure, processes and history, as well as art that explores unexpected relationships between fiber and other creative disciplines. Fee: $45.


Queer | Art
Deadline: June 30, 2024

Illuminations Grant
This $10,000 grant, awarded to draw attention to an existing body of work, sheds light on the under-recognized contributions of Black trans women visual artists and provides critical support to their continuing work. Four distinguished finalists will also receive $1,250.

Robert Giard Grant for Emerging LGBTQ+ Photographers
The Robert Giard Grant for Emerging LGBTQ+ Photographers supports the creation of work by emerging LGBTQ+ photographers whose projects address issues of sexuality, gender, or LGBTQ+ identity. Grants are $10,000 for the winner and $1,250 for distinguished finalists.


Centrum Artists-In-Residence Program
Port Townsend, Washington

Since 1974, the Centrum Artists-In-Residence program has welcomed hundreds of writers, artists and creative thinkers to immerse themselves in the historic charm and natural beauty of Fort Worden in Port Townsend, Washington. The campus has sweeping views of the Olympic and Cascade Mountain ranges, miles of wandering beach and forest trails, and a peppering of World War I–era batteries and bunkers.


Pine Meadow Ranch Center for Arts and Agriculture Artist Residency

PMRCAA’s residency program welcomes a variety of artists, scientists, scholars, and researchers working on individual or collaborative interdisciplinary projects and other forms of creative work. This year’s theme is “Care & Stewardship.” During each residency period, there will be two to four residents on site.

HEAT

The Gainesville Fine Arts Association (GFAA) invites submissions for its 4th National Biennial Juried Exhibition, HEAT.  GFAA seeks artworks that relate to the first-order threat and prime mover of all other impacts of our climate crisis, HEAT. Participants can use any medium. All approaches, traditional and nontraditional, are welcome. Fee: $35.


Peters Valley School of Craft Residency
Layton, NJ
Deadline: July 1, 2024

Located in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, Peters Valley offers fully funded guest artist residencies for November 2024. A limited number of artists will be selected to spend two weeks or one month each in fully equipped studios immersing themselves in time dedicated to their craft. Currently seeking artists who work in Blacksmithing, Ceramics, Fibers, Jewelry/Fine Metals, Wood, Painting/Collage or Printmaking. Fee: $10.


The Emerald Coast National, Mattie Kelly Art Center Galleries

ECN invites all art styles, materials, mediums, etc.—including sound art, kinetic art, sculpture, photography, video, design, craft, and even performance if you can provide documentation for the application. Typically ECN receives applications from working artists across the US and some non-US who work in contemporary, experimental, and classical mediums, styles, and techniques. Best in Show wins an award of $1,000 and a solo show curated by MKAC. Fee: $30.


Penland School of Craft
Penland, NC

Penland’s Resident Artist Program is designed for professional craft artists who are at a pivotal moment in their creative practice or career. The residency is an opportunity for them to pursue objectives that will have a lasting effect on their work and their lives. Depending on the nature of an applicant’s goals, there are two options: a one-year project-based residency, and a three-year career transition residency.


The Shelley & Donald Rubin Foundation: Sight/Geist: Film and Performance Open Call
Deadline: July 2, 2024

This open call, open to emerging New York City-based artists, will provide selected artists with $300 for a one-night group screening and $1,000 for a one-night solo performance. The Foundation is looking for work that addresses their mission of art and social justice through the medium of performance.


Liberated Forms
Deadline: July 6, 2024

The Studio Door seeks artwork that represents body and sex positive visual art. This new national exhibition of visual arts hopes to be a safe space for dialogue and discussion surrounding contemporary experiences of sex and sexuality. Fee: $35


Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity Visual Arts Thematic Residency

This residency is for visual artists—domestic and international—who have completed formal education or training at the post-secondary level, or who have acquired equivalent experience through traditional knowledge and practices, and who have received recognition from their peers. 


Terrain 15

TERRAIN is an annual, juried multimedia art and music event celebrating artists in the Spokane area. From painting to poetry to interactive art and film, the event aims to showcase a little of everything that’s happening to make the Inland Empire a more vibrant, cultural and beautiful place.

With the presidential election heating up, the U.S. is at a crossroads. This exhibition aims to spark important conversations about the country’s future. Loghaven Artist Residency Call for Applications
Knoxville, Tennessee

Application Closes: July 15, 2024

Loghaven invites emerging and established artists working in architecture, dance, interdisciplinary art, music, theater, visual art, and writing to apply. All resident artists receive a living stipend of $850 per week in addition to travel and freight reimbursement. Artists can find inspiration across Loghaven’s 90-acre campus, which includes rehabilitated depression-era log cabins and light-filled studio spaces. In 2021, the campus received the AIA Architecture Award in recognition of its design.


UCross Residency
Clearmont, WY

Ranging from two to six weeks in length, the residency program is open to visual artists, writers, composers, choreographers, interdisciplinary artists, performance artists, and collaborative teams. Applicants must exhibit professional standing in their field; both established and emerging artists are encouraged to apply.There is no charge for a residency. 


Mountain Writers Intensive
Banff, Alberta

The Mountain Writers Intensive is a three-week residency for nine writers working in any genre (fiction, nonfiction, journalism, or poetry) on mountain narratives, environmental journalism, stories of adventure, or projects with a theme of the human relationship to landscape. 


AXS Film Fund
Deadline: July 31, 2024

This program is for creators of color in documentary filmmaking or nonfiction new media who identify as living with a disability. While AXS prefers that a person of color living with a disability is a key contributor to the project, the fund welcomes diverse teams to apply. Each year up to five creators receive grants of up to $10,000 each to assist in finishing their projects in any stage of production. 


Adobe Creative Residency Community Fund

The Adobe Creative Residency Community Fund provides support to creators during times of extraordinary hardship. Current Fund efforts are focused on supporting creators who have been directly impacted by the 2022 invasion of Ukraine. If selected, you will receive $10,000 from the Adobe Creative Residency Community Fund. 


Alper Initiative for Washington Art

We accept and review submissions on a rolling basis from Washington, DC, artists of all ages and backgrounds, exploring different mediums. By submitting, your proposal will be added to the AIWA database and available for review by the museum’s director and curator, and to guest curators for potential inclusion in future AIWA exhibitions. 


Alterwork Residency

This residency allows emerging contemporary artists time and space to create new work exploring their practice. The residency culminates in a solo closing reception that is promoted across an extensive network. Proposals should have a contemporary art focus showing experimentation and career reach for the artist. The program is especially interested in projects that involve conceptual art, practice or theory, or involve the public in their creative process.


A.I.R. Studio Paducah Residencies
Paducah, Kentucky

These residencies are open to visual artists, composers, architects, improvisational dancers, poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers. Residents are provided with a private efficiency apartment and studio space, located in the Lower Town Arts District of Paducah, Kentucky, six blocks from the Ohio River. The cost of the residency is $700 for two weeks and $1,000 per month. Admissions are made on a rolling basis.


Arts in California Parks Artist Directory

The California Department of Parks and Recreation invites artists interested in creating public art in California State and/or local parks to join the Arts in California Parks directory. The directory is a resource available to all State and local California Parks staff, as well as the general public, to be used to search for artists based on location, art medium, or other considerations, in order to explore opportunities for collaboration. 

Artists working in a variety of mediums, styles, and techniques, as well as artists from diverse abilities, backgrounds, and cultures, and with a range of experiences, creative visions, aesthetics, and approaches are encouraged to join the directory.


The Awesome Foundation

The Awesome Foundation is a global community advancing the interest of awesome in the universe, $1000 at a time. Each fully autonomous chapter supports projects through micro-grants, usually given out monthly. Projects include initiatives in a wide range of areas including arts, technology, community development, and more. Many awesome projects are novel or experimental, and evoke surprise and delight.


Center for Contemporary Printmaking Residency Program
Norwalk, CT

The Center for Contemporary Printmaking offers Artists-in-Residence the opportunity to live and work inside the specifically designed Helen Frankenthaler Printmaking Cottage. Within this space artists can produce a body of work in a supportive atmosphere that fosters creative growth and development, for traditional as well as innovative printmaking techniques. Fee: $35.


Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grants

Emergency Grants is the only active, multidisciplinary program that offers immediate, project-based assistance of this kind to artists living and working anywhere in the United States, for projects occurring in the U.S. and abroad. Grants range from $500 to $3,000, and the average grant is $1,900.


Gottlieb Foundation Emergency Grants
Deadline: Rolling

The Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Emergency Grant program provides interim financial assistance to qualified painters, printmakers, and sculptors whose needs are the result of an unforeseen, catastrophic incident. The maximum amount of this grant is $15,000; an award of $5,000 is typical.


Indigo Arts Alliance Mentorship Residency Program
Portland, ME

This program brings together artists from diverse backgrounds of the African Diaspora to engage in their creative process, while building lasting relationships rooted in co-mentorship. Artists of all disciplines are encouraged (painting, sculpture, illustration, writing, dance, music, theater/performance, photography, fiber/textiles, etc). Currently accepting applications from the North Eastern region (Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island). 


Innovate Artist Grants

Innovate Grant distributes two $1,800 grants each quarter, to one visual artist and one photographer. In addition, 12 honorable mentions (six in art and six in photo), will be featured on the website and join a growing community of vibrant and talented artists. Fee: $35.


ART14 Residency

During their stay, artists’ objectives are self-prescribed. The program welcomes all types of artists, writers, musicians, etc. of all skill levels, welcomes creators to explore new media and techniques, and encourages collaboration but does not require it. Residents are encouraged to explore and engage with the local community. 


Musicians Foundation

Application for one-time financial assistance is open to professional musicians across all genres. You must be a professional music performer, composer/arranger, or educator in a specific time of need caused by an unexpected hardship (e.g., medical or dental situation, natural disaster, or certain housing crises).


Pollock-Krasner Foundation
Deadline: Rolling

The Foundation welcomes applications from visual artists who are painters, sculptors, and artists who work on paper, including printmakers. Grants are intended for a one-year period of time. The Foundation will review expenditures relating to an artist’s professional work and personal expenses, and amounts range up to $50,000. Artists must be actively exhibiting their current work in professional artistic venues, such as gallery and museum spaces.


Steel Yard Micro-Residencies
Providence, RI

The program can assist you in growing and strengthening your creative industrial art practice with flexible time commitments of one to three months. Micro-residencies are an ideal opportunity for you to complete a specific project, commission, or prototype within a limited amount of time. One ceramics and one metals micro-resident are hosted at a time. 


Stochastic Labs
Berkeley, CA

Stochastic Labs awards fully sponsored residencies to exceptional engineers, artists, scientists, and entrepreneurs from around the world. Residencies are of variable length and include a private apartment at the mansion, co-working and/or dedicated work space, shop access (laser cutter, 3D printer etc), a monthly stipend, and a budget for materials. Residents may apply as individuals or as teams.


The Studios at MASS MoCA Residency
North Adams, MA
Deadline: Rolling

The Studios is MASS MoCA’s artist and writers residency program situated within the museum’s factory campus and surrounded by the Berkshire Mountains. The residency runs year-round and hosts up to 10 artists at a time. Artists of any nationality can apply for stays of two or four weeks.
