Release Party for Future IDs at Alcatraz by Gregory Sale
The Future IDs at Alcatraz Release Party on July 20, 2019, will weave the personal narratives of the exhibition’s artists with the many stories of human resilience encapsulated on Alcatraz over time in the face of the most challenging of obstacles. Throughout the day, the program features a variety of first-hand accounts by people who have felt the impact of incarceration directly and are using their experiences to improve their own lives and the lives or others. Another program will consider the far-reaching effects of incarceration on families and communities that impact so many people.
Invited participants also include representatives of California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, as well as individuals who were successful with artistic programs while inside and who are now leading those same programs. We’ll co-host a devised workshop/performance led by Actors’ Gang Prison Project and led by alumni from its program.
