Richard Maxwell, an Obie Award-winning writer and director, was born in Fargo, ND, and studied acting at Illinois State University. In Chicago, he was a cofounder of the Cook County Theater Department. Maxell has lived in New York City since 1994 and is the Artistic Director of New York City Players.
