2009 Performing Arts

Performing Arts includes dance, music theater, experimental music performance, experimental opera, spoken word, theater/performance art, puppetry, and interdisciplinary projects.

In March 2008, we received 902 letters of inquiry through our open call for submissions. During the eight-month, three-step review process, 306 of the submissions advanced to the application phase, of which 127 were chosen for a final panel round. Nineteen Performing Arts projects representing 10 cities throughout the US were then selected for funding and announced in January 2009.

2009 Emerging Fields

Emerging Fields includes all forms of digital arts, gaming, sound art, architecture, design, interdisciplinary projects, and new genres.

In March 2008, we received 769 letters of inquiry through our open call for submissions. During the eight-month, three-step review process, 231 of the submissions advanced to the application phase, of which 102 were chosen for a final panel round. Sixteen Emerging Fields projects representing 11 cities throughout the US were then selected for funding and announced in January 2009.

2009 Innovative Literature

Innovative Literature includes poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and genre-defying literary work.

In March 2008, we received 397 letters of inquiry through our open call for submissions. During the eight-month, three-step review process, 91 of the submissions advanced to the application phase, of which 36 were chosen for a final panel round. Six Innovative Literature projects representing five cities throughout the US were then selected for funding and announced in January 2009.
