You Are Here is an immersive installation set within a geodesic dome that recreates the constellations of the night sky in three-dimensional form and sets them into a three hundred and sixty degree celestial tableau. The 20‘ x 40’ geodesic dome (think playground jungle gym) becomes the physical embodiment of the celestial sphere, the imaginary sphere surrounding the earth on which the constellations appear to rest. The dome is populated by the physical representations of the constellations, which journey upwards to the dome’s ceiling and remain suspended according to their actual coordinates in that evening’s sky. These celestial characters, creatures and objects are animated through such techniques as time based performance, aerial acrobatics, tableau vivant and interactive puppetry. This outdoor installation employs the evening sky as a twilight backdrop silhouetting the constellation forms and revealing the star patterns from which they originated.
