Tamango Bay Mo Dilo

Description

Bay Mo Dilo is a dance and music performance exploring French Caribbean rhythm and culture. Developed through residencies in the United States and the Caribbean, the project brings together dancers from Haiti, Guadaloupe, Martinique, and French Guiana, as well as master drummers Bonga and Kiavue. Bay Mo Dilo is about the communicative power and political significance of rhythm in the French Caribbean and the effect of colonizing and native cultures on contemporary life there. The work is set against an impressionistic backdrop of video images created by filmmaker Jean de Boysson.
