BODYWORK

Liz Cohen

BODYWORK is a combination performance and sculpture project that investigates the American desire for acceptance, the creation of identity and the requirements for group membership. Cohen has transformed an aging East German Trabant into an American El Camino low-rider, and herself into a car customizer and bikini model. Cohen is working at a custom body shop to transform the vehicle, and working out regularly at a gym to transform her body. BODYWORK includes an installation of the car and photos of Cohen as a model.
