Baltimore based artist Susie Brandt has been progressively scouring the textile terrain since she sewed her first dress at age seven. Since the mid 1980’s, her textile based work has addressed the domestic and handmade, consumption and abundance, and relationships between textile and rural and urban landscapes. Her studio work has been included in numerous solo and group exhibitions – nationally and internationally. She has also worked on collaborative site oriented installation projects with various artists including Betsy Brandt, Margo Mensing and Kristine Woods. She earned a BFA from Philadelphia College of Art in 1984 and received her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1987. Ms. Brandt is currently on the faculty of the Maryland Institute College of Art.
