British-born choreographer Sarah Michelson has been based in New York City since 1991. She has been commissioned by the Lyon Opera Ballet and has had her work presented by P.S. 122 in New York, The Walker Art Center in Minneapolis and Seattle’s On The Boards. She has also been presented by The Kitchen, Danspace Project at St. Mark’s Church, Movement Research at the Judson Church and Improvisation Festival/NY, all in New York; as well as the New Performance Gallery and Dancers Group in San Francisco; Die Pratze Dance Festival in Tokyo; La Porta in Barcelona; and London’s Chisenhale Dance Space. Her 2002 work, The Experts, was commissioned by Baryshnikov’s White Oak Dance Project. Michelson received two consecutive “Bessie” Awards in 2002 and 2003. She has received funding from Arts International’s DNA Award.
