Liz Cohen grew up in Phoenix, AZ. She received a BA in philosophy from Tufts University in Boston, a BFA in studio art from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and an MFA in photography from the California College of Arts and Crafts in San Francisco. Her grants and awards include an award from Artadia: The Fund for Art and Dialogue, a fellowship from The Photography Institute and residencies at the Akademie Schloss Solitude and the MacDowell Colony. She has exhibited her work nationally and internationally, including shows at venues such as Fargfabriken (Sweden), The Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (San Francisco) and Fiori Uso (Pescara). Cohen lives in Detroit and is the Artist-in-Residence/Head of Photography at Cranbrook Academy of Art.
