Braden King is a filmmaker and artist whose credits include full-length features and documentaries, short films, gallery and museum installations, and music videos for Sonic Youth, Will Oldham, Sparklehorse and others. He co-directed the lyric Aleutian Island documentary DUTCH HARBOR: WHERE THE SEA BREAKS ITS BACK, which screened in over 20 major international film festivals and toured internationally with live, improvised soundtrack accompaniment by the acclaimed Boxhead Ensemble. King’s honors include the C.I.C.A.E. Prize at the 2011 Berlin Film Festival, 2010 Cinereach at Sundance Institute Fellowship, 2008 Cannes Film Festival Atelier, 2008 Sundance / NHK International Filmmakers Award, and grants from the Rockefeller, Annenberg and Sloan Foundations. King’s work has screened at leading international film festivals, including Sundance, Rotterdam, Berlin, London, Melbourne, Singapore and Ann Arbor, and has been broadcast on HBO, BBC, Sundance Channel, MTV and Channel 4 (UK). His work has also been exhibited at institutions such as MoMA, The Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art, Mass MoCA and The Aldrich Contemporary Art Center. King graduated Magna Cum Laude from the USC School of Cinema-Television and has lectured widely at universities throughout the U.S. He lives in New York City with his wife and two sons.
