The Portland Institute of Contemporary Art in Oregon presents its annual Time Based Art (TBA) Festival September 3–13, featuring a number of Creative Capital grantees representing multiple disciplines. Miguel Gutierrez (in collaboration with the Powerful People) presents Last Meadow, a performance mining movements and texts from James Dean films to create a non-narrative patchwork describing America; Seattle-based locust presents their new dance-music-video performance work Crushed, which deals with the idea of being blindsided; Brody Condon’s piece Without Sun, named for Chris Marker’s classic video Sans Soleil, repurposes online found-footage of people experiencing salvia-induced hallucinogenic trips; and Young Jean Lee’s Theater Company reprises her newest play The Shipment.
