2006 Literature

Literature includes poetry, fiction, nonfiction, as well as genre-defying work by writers who demonstrate exceptional stylistic, linguistic, and formal originality. In March 2005, we received 296 letters of inquiry through our open call for submissions. During the eight-month, three-step review process, 83 of the submissions advanced to the application phase, of which 33 were chosen for a final panel round. Four Literature projects were then selected for funding and announced in February 2006.

2006 Emerging Fields

Emerging Fields includes all forms of digital arts, gaming, sound art, architecture, design, interdisciplinary projects, and new genres.

In March 2005, we received 795 letters of inquiry through our open call for submissions. During the eight-month, three-step review process, 176 of the submissions advanced to the application phase, of which 90 were chosen for a final panel round. Twenty one Emerging Fields projects representing 16 cities throughout the US were then selected for funding and announced in February 2006.

2006 Performing Arts

Performing Arts includes dance, music theater, experimental music performance, experimental opera, spoken word, theater/performance art, puppetry, and interdisciplinary projects.

In March 2005, we received 1,111 letters of inquiry through our open call for submissions. During the eight-month, three-step review process, 347 of the submissions advanced to the application phase, of which 130 were chosen for a final panel round. Twenty one Performing Arts projects representing 13 cities throughout the US were then selected for funding and announced in February 2006.
