Past Grants
As part of the inaugural grant round, in August 1999 we received a total of 1,810 for all four of our funded disciplines. Applications were received from artists in 46 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. Of those applicants, 220 were selected to submit more extensive materials, including work samples, for a final panel round. In separate panels, 12 emerging fields projects, 21 film/video projects, 23 performing arts, and 19 visual arts projects were selected for funding. The awards were announced in January 2000 in The New York Times.
