In 2001, Creative Capital funded Sam Green and Bill Siegel's documentary The Weather Underground, which tells the story of a group of radical young women and men who tried to violently overthrow the United States government during the late 1960s and 70s. The film premiered at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival, was nominated for an Academy Award, included in the 2004 Whitney Biennial, and has screened widely around the world.

Application Advice Chats

As in previous years, Creative Capital Director of Grantmaking and Artist Services Sean Elwood and Program Coordinator for Grantmaking and Artist Services Associate Kemi Ilesanmi will answer questions in real-time online chat sessions.

Instructions

The Creative Capital Online Application Advice Chats will take place in a chat room on America Online's Instant Messaging Network. Those who already have an account with a screen name can proceed to the instructions below, "How to join the Creative Capital Online Application Advice Chats."

For those without an Instant Messaging Screen Name:

Sign up for an AOL Instant Messenger account by pointing your web browser to http://www.aim.com and follow instructions for "Get AIM." Once you have successfully chosen a screen name and password, you need not download the AOL Instant Messenger software. Instead, if your web browser is configured to use Java "applets" (most browsers are), you can use AIM Express. Alternately, participants may use another Instant Message client that may have come with your computer, such as iChat for Apple users. To be safe, test it out before the chat session; if it doesn't work for you, you can download AOL Instant Messenger for free from http://www.aim.com/index.adp

How to join the chat using AOL IM:

To join the chat session:


Click the Chat Button in the main window.

Enter "CreativeAppEntry" in both the Screen Names to Invite and the Name of the Buddy Chat Room.
You should now be in the chat room. Please Note: You will only see entries from the point you enter the chat room.

How to join the chat using iChat:

• Open iChat
• Under the File menu, click Go to Chat
• Enter "CreativeAppEntry" as the chat name
